Step 5: Using the Primary Filters
Osage Inside Access allows you to restrict the parent records that are displayed in a number of useful ways.
- These "standard filters" are indicated by green text:

Show All
- Just click on this to display all parent records
Name Filter (button and text box)
- To the right of the Apply Name Filter button you can enter any text. For instance, (if you are in Northwind) type in "update" and then press the Apply Name Filter button (or just press Enter). Immediately, only those tables, queries, forms, etc. that contain "update" anywhere in their name will be displayed.
- Press the Show ALL button to display all objects
Object Type Filter (combo box)
- To the right of the Name Filter text box is a combo box.
- Pull it down and select one of the object types, perhaps forms.
- You will notice that only objects of that type are now displayed
Combine Filters
- Let's say you want to see only forms that contain the text "update" in their name. No problem.
- Click the Combine Filters checkbox, and then activate filters by pressing the Name Filter button. Presto!
Hot Filters
- Let's say you will often want to look at a particular collection of objects, perhaps all objects associated with a certain phase of processing, or all objects being worked on by a particular developer (there are innumerable possibilities.)
- You can have Osage Inside Access permanently remember this collection using the user-defined Hot Filters. This will be described next.
