Here is a more detailed list of the features and benefits of Osage Inside Access. You can see these features in action by clicking on Take the Tour. You can also view the Entire Help File Table of Contents.

Osage Inside Access is a brand new category of developer tool. It is an MDB Object Manager -- you can think of it as a powerful extension of the Access Database window functionality. Osage Inside Access is written as an Access Add-In, for Access 97, 2000, 2002, and 2003. There is a separate product version for each. Here are the details:
  • Dynamic Cross Reference - See "what objects use what" and then easily and quickly assess the impact of code and object changes throughout your entire application. With one-click access to any related object.

    • Application-wide string search and cross-reference - type any text string (e.g. variable or field name) and find every place in your application that string is mentioned -- and have one-click access to the mentioned objects at any time.

  • Bird's-Eye Object Views - Easily view and access the primary internal objects used by your queries, forms, reports, and modules.

    • Queries - do you work with layered queries? They are now a snap! In one place you will see every "lower-level" query and table (conveniently numbered) -- with one-click access to each of them!

    • Forms and Reports - Instantly view the record source and sub forms/sub-reports used by them -- with one-click access to each.

    • Modules - Instantly see every sub and function contained in your modules -- with one-click access to each of them.

  • Powerful and convenient object manipulation -

    • Open, run, rename and delete any referenced object from one screen.

    • Provides a quick access work area to open up queries and objects using the copy/paste buffer.

    • Enter your own custom object notes.

  • Object Name Filters - see all objects in your database that contain any text string you specify.

    • For instance. specify "update" and all tables, queries, forms, etc. that contain the text string "update" are instantly displayed.

  • Powerful User-Defined Hot Filters - Group application objects in any and every way that makes sense (you define the criteria), and have one-click access to these groups at any time.

  • Open those hard to locate Form and Report procedures with just 1 click -

    • For instance, open a form's "After Update event" procedure with just one click. If there is a reference within Osage Inside Access, you can just click on the Open button. No need to perform these tedious tasks: 1) open a form, 2) click on a control, 3) open up properties window, and then 4) click to open the event procedure.

    • What a time and hassle saver!

  • 'Populate' Feature - in one step, generate "clickable" cross reference lists for every object in your database. (note: this could take some time depending on the number of objects in your application and the speed of your computer.)

We suggest you continue with the tour, but to make all this more concrete, below is a sample screen using the Northwind database.
